watched only the first halfhour of bachelor last nite; i think reality TV can be a mite too disgusting & cruel fer my liking. and andrew firestone looks abit diabolical frm certain angles... hehe
was helping my p4 niece out wif her math & english yesterday. she's okie wif her english (though her vocab needs a slight tweaking, i think) but her math is next to horrendous! *shudders* she isnt stupid or dumb or anything. i think she mostly has some difficulty comprehending the questions... but i guess primary school standards have increased by leaps & bounds eversince i graduated frm yung an primary like a gazillion years ago... ;) But still, i believe the trick to solving a problem sum lies in the ability to draw accurate models or diagrammatic representations... However, this can only be achieved if the student is able to extract the necessary information frm the question first and THIS requires some comprehension skills. THUS the importance of cultivating simple habits such as reading... and not just ANy type of reading.. newspapers are fine i suppose but i dont think they really help to develop language skills. magazines are just loads of rubbish... BOOKS are what kids shud read more of but sadly, in this time and age, they compete wif a myriad of other childhood distractions (such as television, videogames & the internet) which are far more attractive in the eyes of the child... *haiz* TEaching is definitely NOt my forte... i blabber alot & end up digressing!
well anyway, the poor thing had tons of revision questions to complete (cuz her exams start next week) and so i helped her wif her sums... and of course, having a cute, bouncy, little three-year-old running around the house didnt really help. she suffered a cut on her lip in the morning after a slight mishap in the living room but that didnt dampen her spirits unfortunately... less than a couple of hours later, she was back jumping up & down on my bed. how cute~ (or irritating, depending on yr level of patience where noisy, irrepressible toddlers are concerned. ;p )
downloaded adobe premiere software (which is an excellent video-editing tool, i heard) this morning but sumhow or other, it couldnt really install properly. so that's like around two hours of download time wasted~ ;p However, i Did manage to dwnload & install soundforge last nite.. so i spent my evening merrily editing a handful of my mp3s, especially live tracks wif loads of conversation in them.. that's another skill i've learnt! well, well.. dontchathink i'd make a great web designer or sumthing?? LOL.. As iF.. so Wadever right~
anyway, my mom has really been gettin on my nerves lately. cant wait to get out of this house...
PS; was almost late fer fridae prayers juz now.. waktu zohor makin cepat ler~ hopefully when the fasting month finally starts later this month, that wud mean earlier Buka times fer us Moslems.. ;) alhamdulillah!
