tabah - hazami

have you ever seen a grown man cry? it's indeed a rare sight.. but i did today. it was my elder bro. he has nephrolithiasis or what is commonly known as kidney stone.

though not really deleterious or life threatening, having a kidney stone can be excruciatingly painful. imagine trying to squeeze a marble through a plastic straw.. this analogy, though not exactly accurate, shud illustrate theoretically, what having a kidney stone involves... now imagine that the straw is your ureter that links your kidney (where your urine is formed) to your urethra (where the urine is excreted) and imagine the STRESS experienced by the straw as it stretches beyond it's capabilities & the PAIN which the stress translates to... it's no laughing matter.

i was really frustrated wif the nuh staff; especially the young doctors that oversee the wards there... the duty doctor didnt arrive to attend to my bro til about a FULL hour after the pain was alerted to the attention of the nurses. nuh have always been on my blacklist; i personally think the staff R terribly rude & inefficient & the patients are grossly overcharged. the attending doctor at the emergency clinic yesterday even failed to detect the kidney stone that was the source of my bro's misery! thus tomorrow, xrays have to repeated & probably a laser op wud be required to remove that blasted stone. fuckin' waste of time & money... to make matters worse, my bro was expecting to be discharged this afternoon too, after being deemed "fit for home recovery" by the doctor. my poor sis-in-law now has to spend probably another couple of nites worrying herself sick at home.. while attending to the needs of her three little kids.
