shake ya tailfeather - nelly, p.diddy & murphy lee
p.i.m.p - 50 cent
me against the music - britney & madonna
hole in the head - sugababes
heaven - hayley westenra

hayley westenra is the latest prodigy to make a HUge impact in the classical music world. this 16yr-old new zealander already has some impressive credentials to date; she has performed with the prestigious royal philharmonic orchestra & russel watson & is slated to sing wif jose carreras this december at the royal albert hall. for those of you not in the know, hayley has been christened the "next" charlotte church... i've listened to a few song samples frm the net (she already has three albums to date but only one of them is an international release) and i must say that the crystal purity of her voice is unparalleled by even the illustrious miss church. however, though she has an amazing vocal clarity, i personally think that her youthful voice still lacks a certain emotive coloring; but i'm sure it's only a matter of time before hayley becomes an "in" thing in singapore, just like how josh groban & charlotte church once were. ;-)

i watched the malay classic azura last thursday nite starring some of the biggest names of the 1980s; jamal abdillah, fauziah ahmad daud and syed sobri. all three of these are, unsurprisingly, singers cum actors who had their own following of starstruck fans.. it is no wonder that azura became a blockbuster in malaysia back when it opened in 1984 and spawned a couple of massive radio hits namely Azura (jamal abdillah) and Sandarkan pada kenangan (jamal & ogy). this simple tale of love between a poor orphan minah, azura (ogy) & pampered brat matmotor (jamal) can be considered quite corny in the context of today's wide array of sophisticated malay dramas and telefilms. Yet, the staight-to-the-heart storytelling and honest acting by the leads are engaging enough to keep the viewer glued until the end of the show. the musical numbers too are another reason why this movie is a must-see... you'll be humming along to azura & sandarkan dlm kenangan in no time. nevertheless, there were a couple of scenes which i found too disgustingly implausible; in one, ogy switched to fluent japanese as she served two jap tourists in a boutique. how on earth does a poor orphan minah learn to speak jap wif the flueny of a native, is beyond me!! ;p despite a few hiccups here & there (& so many corny one-liners uttered wif such gravity they're downright hilarious) i found Azura to be rather entertaining. 3.5/5 stars!

last saturday, i spent the whole day painting my house. i did the walls while my sis painted the cornices. by day's end, my arms were sore & aching and my palms were red! still, it did fill me wif tremendous satisfaction to see the living room walls gradually transform into the new apple-white color... and i must admit, it's a pretty fetching color too! hehe. However, i was SO exhausted that i thought i wudnt have the mood for a night's out but my jolly frens DId make my evening worth it.. ;) oh yeah, btw, fazlee tak jadi gi taiwan. how fortunate for him~ looks like we'll be seeing more of him in the future... he's a nice person & kinda fun to hang out wif but his presence can be quite... erm... i dunno wats the word lah ;p

it was raining for most of sunday.. & i wud have had a glorious time slacking if not for the fact that i woke up in the morn wif a a right eye so puffy and swollen, i looked like a relative of my pet goldfish~! LOL. it worried me no end! i applied ice intermittently and rested my eyes alot (i.e. i slept alot) and thankfully, by evening, the swelling had diminished significantly. Whew!!! i was so afraid i wud have to be known as GoldfishEyes or sumthing.. and i wudnt be so cute anymore! *gasps* worse still, wat if its the early symptoms of eye cancer or sumthing juz as pernicious??? *sobsob* Serves me right for rubbing my eyes too hard the night before!!! or maybe it was due to prolonged exposure to harmful paint fumes whilst my contacts were still on?? watever the case, i'm just sooooo thankful that my eye is back to normal now... alhamdullilah...

i've been sleeping alot. today i woke up at 2pm and helped my mum hang the "temporary" curtains.. am already forseeing the gargantuan amount of cleaning to do as part of the hari raya preparations. PLUS the fact that my room still needs a new paint job.. ARGh!! am reeling frm anticipated exhaustion already~ LOL
