i think sup tulang is an acquired taste but personally, i find it DISGuSting. my mom cooked it fer iftar juz now (and it was the second time we're having it in less than a month) against all my protests. frankly speaking however, i'm the only one in my family who has a case against sup tulang (besides my niece, who thinks only dogs should suck on bones.. ;p ) since evryone else lurrves it. at any rate, i tried having a helping but cudnt ignore the pool of oil which collected almost immediately on my plate.. *urgh~!*

as part of this evening's family entertainment, my younger bro popped the 'janji diana' disc into the player & well... what can i say? all my family members were hooked after that... yep, my mom & sis especially are stalwart fans of rosyam nor & erra fazira, two of malaysia's hottest heartthrobs whose names on any cinema marquee are bound to ensure a movie immediate box-office success (at least by local standards). yussof haslam, the veteran director who had spawned numerous erra fazira movie vehicles fer so many donkey years, helms this maudlin piece about the tumultous love-lives of a bunch of mats & minahs motor. Former beauty queen errafazira (who is already approaching thirty soon) as a minah-motor roughneck?? too incredulous fer me unfortunately. hence i retired to my room to watch some mtvs which i downloaded recently...

me against the music - britney spears & madonna. Despite this being a collaboration with the icon of pop, madonna, whose mtvs are more often than not thematically controversial, this is one major BORING music video. in one part, britney & madonna grind & dance suggestively at each other at opposite sides of a wall... which is utterly silly, if u ask me. then in another ludicrous segment, britney & madonna cavort around each other in a room void of anything else save a metal bed frame. Artistic? Don't think so. Pointless? Definitely. [4/10]

low - kelly clarkson. While the 'miss independent' mtv was a dull affair, i think this one by ms clarkson is so much more interesting. in it, she does nuthing much except drive around in a jeep across a picturesque desert road & sing wif a band on stage ala a retro-rock chick yet i think it's stylistically much better than britney's video. the song itself has some very strong & catchy guitar/drum riffs and kelly sounds and looks like a cross between xtina aguilera & kelly osbourne. this isnt a bad thing actually as it lends the video some rock-star credibility & an alluring, rugged charm. (but she looks kinda chunky though, no offence ~ ;p) [6/10]

have a little faith in me - mandy moore. i'm actually a closet mandy moore fan & hence may tend to get abit biased here ;p .. Yet, i think ms moore's vocals have greatly improved since her last outing on 'a walk to remember' soundtrack. Sounding stronger & fresher than ever, this is actually a cover of an old song by John Hiatt & is the first single off her third album 'Coverage' which consists entirely of covers of songs frm the 60's & 70's. In this vid, mandy looks like a trendier version of her 'walk to remember' counterpart.. this sense of dejavu is no doubt emphasized by her brunette hairdo & the retro vibes emanated by the song itself. It's such a shame that the music arrangement is juz too safely in the 'radio-friendly' categorary if yougetwhatimean.. Nothing spectacular but nice~ ;-) [6.5/10]

the voice within - xtina aguilera. this is a beautiful ballad by ms dirrty.. although its the fifth single frm her album stripped, it still sounds very freshly different frm her other singles. there is a certain RAwness about her vocal quality which captures the attention of the listener & makes this (& other xtina tracks) so distinct from other saccharine-laden offerings aired on commercial radio. the video itself is very simple; a raven-haired xtina in nuthing else but a silk lingerie singing in a dilapidated country barn. Or is it a warehouse? cant really make out anything cos' evrything's in black & white... But Very retro. Very vogue. Very Nice. Who needs fancy dancesteps, scantily-clad extras (be it hunks or babes) or breathtaking scenery as a backdrop when your vocals alone are enuff to engage the audience? well done, christina~! u go, gerl!! ;-p [7.5/10]

slow - kylie minogue. this new offering by kylie is a funky electro/electronica/wadever ditty. the first single off her new album 'body language', it's really a rehash of kylie's trademark formula BUt boy, her made-for-the-dancefloor tunes are awesome~ i thought that kylie cant surprise me anymore but the mtv was unexpectedly better than i cud ever imagine. Amazingly, kylie does NOT gyrate sexily, show off her famous perky butt or expose other unwholesome body parts at all here (There was a LeeTle bit of cleavage though). Instead, she writhes seductively (and slooowly) on a bath towel by a poolside, surrounded by sexy dancers in skimpy swimwear ALSO writhing on bath/beach towels... NiCe~ ;-) Slow, as the mtv depicts, is the kind of dance song u'll listen to as you luxuriously suntan or sunbathe in the glorious mid-afternoon sun... and watever else you may end up doing, i guess, is all left to the imagination.. hehe. [7.5/10]

trouble - pink. Excellent first single off her new album 'Try This.' There isnt much of a departure frm pink's rock-influenced sophomore effort 'mizunderstoodz' but this single is best appreciated after watching the video. One word describes it; FUN! yep.. pink must have had loads of fun shooting this cowboy inspired vid. schlock-full of feminist values, this rollicking mtv is like a mini western film.. ExcEllent! [8.5/10]

hmmm.. as you can see, i'm really a music critic wannabe. can sumone pls gimme a job in this industry??? pretty puhleaze??? LOL ... ARgh! i'm so crappy...
