the golden globes
Monday, January 26, 2004

i woke up around 8am but my head felt abit heavy so i decided to have an additional couple of hours of sleep... by the time i was REALLy awake, i realized that i only had less than an hour of the golden globes left to watch. however, i wasnt too keen to catch it anyway cuz i havent seen most of the movies that were nominated & it wud be rather silly to be rooting for sumthing which i know nuts about. moreover, award shows may get to be abit on the boring & draggy side and since it was a live telecast, the show wud be riddled wif advertisements galore. And it's a freaking FOUR-hour long show... i dont think i have the patience to sit through that~!

With that said, i was still abit disappointed that some of my favorites didnt win but nevertheless, these are the 2004 golden globe winners (with the other nominated contenders):

i'm abit miffed that Jude Law, Diane Lane & Johnny Depp didnt win and why did Renee Zellweger win AGAin?? isnt one golden globe (last year for Chicago) enough??? oh well... on the flipside, charlize theron is entirely deserving for i read frm numerous reviews that her performance was pretty extraordinary whereas peter jackson's epical Lord Of the Rings took over three years of shooting & an additional three years b4 we got to see the final instalment, The Return of the King. For a seven-year piece of work, i guess an award or two is completely justified... & i juz lurrve the annie lennox song on the sound track~! ;)

The cinema industry here in singapore is really quite pathetic. Under The Tuscan Sun & Master & Commander closed their run b4 i managed to catch them in theatres... its like all the cinema houses here are showing the exact same thing wif the exception of orchard cineleisure, which in addition to mainstream movies, also screen foreign arthouse films & causeway point, which also screens malay-language films. & why is it so hard to get movie tickets in town on weekends?? was intending to watch school of rock last sat with a few frens (cinelesiure was the only place still screening it) but though we arrived a couple of hours earlier, the ticks were all sold out even then. How Sad!! :(

*haiz* anyhow, i'm looking forward to see cold mountain in local theaters...
