i juz realised that last sunday's edition of the new paper, was pretty crappy; at least thirty percent of its contents were devoted to the recent molest case brought against ex-tv presenter, shankar aiyar & articles pertaining to molest. Once deemed a respected figure who headlined the popular forum "in Conversation", mr shankar was pronounced guilty & sentenced to 16 months jail & four strokes of the cane (ouch~!) by district judge Victor Yeo. the latter even referred to shankar as (in the now infamous line) "a hunting wolf in sheep's clothing." i've seen pictures of mr shankar (thanks to extensive media coverage on tv & in the papers) & i must admit that he looks juz like any typical indian national; tall, dark & smelly looking.. LOL. it's quite amazing that some women actually used to think that he was quite the "ladies' man". anywayz, i guess sleazy stories DO sell the tabloids & judging from the attention-grabbing headlines that adorn the pages, it is no wonder. From "What gets gropers TURNED ON???" (yep, in all-caps & bold, no less) to "THE FLIPSIDE OF FAME," these kind of article-titles are the requisite for attracting the sex/celebrity-obsessed masses who generally do not read, period. i have no objections against anyone who prefers to read the new paper over the straits times but personally, i wont want to waste my seventy cents reading sensational headlines but less-than-sensational articles.

haha.. i'm glad THAT's out of my system.

anyhow, i woke up slightly late in the afternoon yesterday (nothing new there) and was nearly late to accompany my bro fer his specialist appointment at sgh. fortunately, we didnt have to wait too long to see dr. tan h.k but i'm rather irked by his seemingly poor memory; why does he keep asking the same questions at every appointment? nonetheless, i am at least assured of his concern because he seems to perceive my bro's condition rather gravely. Hmmm.. but then dr tan looks serious & grave ALL THE TIME. i wonder if he ever smiles??? and he desperately needs a fashion makeover, of course (most doctors do, i think). in my honest opinion, plastic spectacle frames that cover half of your face are definitely passe. LOL. i'm glad though, that my bro's chemotherapy treatment is finally over; that means he wont have to go down sgh so often. frankly speaking, for an old hospital, sgh is pretty neat but i'm getting sick of that place. oh yeah... evrytime i have my meals at the sgh staff canteen, there's this young minah wif hazel contacts working at the one & only malay stall who always manage to successfully unnerve me. she's pretty pleasant to look at and nice to talk to but sumhow or other, her smile gives me the creeps. *shudders* now, why is that so?? ;p
