it's official; i have a blocked nose :( The good thing about it is that i cant smell the stink coming from my rabbit's cage (whose regular cleaning is long overdue) but the bad thing is that i cant smell anything else too. Perhaps later i'll try to dig up that slab of chlorpheniramine which i know is lying sumwhere at the bottom of my drawer...
on a more positive note, i finally did my ironing yesterday night: twelve tshirts! (yep, i'm one of those neurotic folks who iron their tshirts!) Am so glad i was able to do so rather than have to trouble my mom to do it for me. but then, i've been ironing my own stuff eversince my junior college days so it wasnt really such a big deal. i'm not the sort of guy who frowns upon doing household chores. heck, i sumtimes do even my own washing~! Nonetheless, it's pretty sad that i've yet to learn how to cook. Cooking, i think, needs loads of practice, interest & good judgment but interest & good judgment are precisely the factors which i am gravely lacking. PLUS, i have a tremendously flighty mind; i'm bound to ferget the essential ingredients or sumthing...
well anyway, i was doing my ironing while simultaneously watching suria's konsert ikhlas on television. As a rule, i try not to multi-task cuz i suck at it but ironing is such a BORING activity; i NEED the entertainment! for those not in the know, konsert ikhlas is a live telethon held anually after the syawal month as some sort of grand culmination to the Tabung Amal Aidilfitri (or more affectionately known as the TAA). The line-up wasnt really impressive even by local standards because the only big names who deigned to grace us wif select performances were hetty sarlene and noraniza idris. However, i was extremely ecstatic over the rest of the local artistes; Anugerah finalists (who didnt even make the final 10) norazmeen, elfaezah ul'haq and suhaimi were in fine voice, proving that though they may not be as popular as the top three winners, they're certainly just as talented. Elfee ismail (son of veteran singer R.ismail) showed amazing vocal dexterity in his rendition of jamal abdillah's samrah mentari; alias kadir's spot-on comic timing had me in dithers while his excellent imitation of ramli sarip & s.m salim in lagu zaman is clear evidence he is not just a comedian, but an all-rounded stage performer and entertainer. Even Anugerah alums hairani hassan and rudy sumbody (i forgot his name!) gave deliciously professional performances. Seriously, singapore is not short in young talent but it's rather sad that the local music scene cannot do more to hone these people into the stars which they deserve to be.
the total amount collected by the TAA last night was around seven hundred thousand dollars, i think.. such a pitiful sum when compared to the millions collected by its cina counterparts; channel U's ren ci charity and tcs 8's president star charity. however, malays are a minority race and suria is just a minor channel compared to the aforesaid big-wigs with their ultra-high ratings & ample sponsors. therefore, it's probably not such a bad idea that ikhlas organisers this year decided not to stipulate a targeted amount before the concert. Furthermore, considering the fact that we're in the midst of an economic downturn, i guess that sum wasnt too bad afterall. Amazingly though, the emcee for the night, suhaimi yusoff, wasnt as irritating as i feared he would be and some of his jokes were actually funny! on the contrary, his hosting partner, radio deejay nurul, lacked any spontaneity whatsoever and thus consequently as a pair, they exude as much chemistry as a dead fish. And singing radio deejays are NOT entertaining (unless they can carry a tune LIVE); they really need to cut this segment out frm the concert programme next year. ;p
on tcs 5, i caught the reality show extreme makeover whose previous time-slot was on saturday nights and i finally understand why this series is such a hit in the US. Now already into its second season, the producers received more than ten thousand written applications from those wanting to participate in the show. just imagine that~!! i think the fantastical idea of having your most extreme wishes fulfilled is what audiences find so appealing; and despite that old bromide that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, i think EVERYbody has some secret wish to be physically beautiful. nonetheless, i dont think i wanna discuss this issue any further for now... it's too.. tedious (for want of a better word) :P
5 things i wanna change about my physical attributes: (in the event i'm picked for extreme makeover.. LOL )
1) i want a more pointy nose ala sarah michelle gellar. Or at least sumthing more shapely ;)
2) to get rid of my horrible eyebags!!!
3) a complexion which is as smooth as a baby's bottom. (no more pimple scars please!)
4) less stick-out ears (no more name-calling me mickey mouse when i'm wearing my glasses)
5) and last and most importantly, i wanna be TALLER!!!!!!!! perhaps then, i wont have to look up to anyone anymore... *sniffsniff*
