i dont know the whens or whys but i'm gradually feeling the beginnings of a very bad PMS. and no, i dont mean it literally!!

i think i've been feeling under the weather recently and it is certainly not helped by my eldest aunt's recent persistent pleas (but the more accurate word would probably be "urgings") to join her grandson in some sales stint selling home products.. bytheway, the aforesaid 'grandson' is actually only three/two years my junior and he's the size of an ox (figuratively of course) so it's no wonder that i squirm in discomfort evrytime he calls me "cik ewan" (which is a malay form of address for "uncle"). i told him "i'll think about it" MOST hesitantly since the start and most sensible individuals would definitely conclude this as a sort of euphemism for the more hostile "NO thank you please!"... but after i failed to turn up at this seminar cum briefing at safra toa payoh last night (SO freaking far frm my place!) my mom just HAD to promise my aunt that we'll attend another briefing at their jurong east flat in less than a fortnight because obviously, she couldnt put down the phone unless an affirmative reply was given. I suspect this is all a ploy to kick-start my aunt & her grandson's budding aspirations for a successful "home-business" and seriously, it's not fair that the former is pulling weight as my dad's eldest sister!! Fuck all family politics~!!!! Anyway, who needs expensive, foreign "brand" name household products when the nearby supermaket offers much more value-for money products?!

@#%* (insert most foul and controversial expletive here)!!! may all foolish aunts wif grandiose ambitions of fame & fortune AND equipped with backstabbing & conniving tongues to boot, ROT in hell~!! muahahahhaha!!!!!

whew... i think i've run out of exclamation marks for now~ ;)

yesterday was the finals for the third season of star search & in the junior singer category, 10-year-old mark mejia wowed judges & the audience with his amazing rendition of the jackson five hit "I want you back". but seriously, it was a close shave as his other two competitors were equally just as talented... I'm always on the lookout for the junior singers because time and again, they've shown such amazing talent & showmanship despite their diminutive size and tender age. (standing beside the host, arsenio hall, mark's height hardly reached the former's waist!) however, i was rooting for mark from the start not only because of his asian roots, he is certainly the cutest too! hehe.. Reminded me of myself in my primary school days... LOL. In the adult singer category, 22yrold singer & music teacher Vickie Natale won for her credible rendition of whitney houston's "saving all my love." lookswise, i'm afraid she needs a Major makeover plus she should lose a few pounds but these arent really such sore points... Afterall, one of the judges did say she could belt just as well as whitney in her glory days & i second that compliment~! having said that however, the other two finalists were crucially lacking in the photogenic department; one looks astonishingly like macy gray gifted wif toni braxton's pipes while the other has a body of a buffalo & equally BIg & impressive vocals. Ooops, i think i'm juz being a mite too critical here...~ ;p

there were loads of talent over at star search but the same couldnt be said at the american idol auditions over at houston. Seems like all the highlighted individuals either have a mojor attitude problem or in need of a total makeover. i think, only two or three individuals had spectacular voices and i guess the producers have edited out most of the other qualifying audition pieces. Nevertheless, what seems entertaining last season appears to be most disconcerting to me now; Sure, laughing at folks is very fun & entertaining but it's like so... erm... degenerating to my sensibilities! i mean, these people came to the auditions wif dreams & hopes intact & to smash them to the ground using one of simon cowell's infamous, cruel & sardonic remarks at the expense of their feelings, its almost... inhuman. what kind of values are we teaching our prepubescent children or the majority of tv-watching adolescents out there? that society condones tactlessness & sardonic wit that manipulates human emotions for the sake of entertainment?? with the prospect of a singapore version of this hit idol series looming at the later half of this year, i hope our local media producers & executives really think about their approach to this most insensitive aspect of the show...

erm.. i'm such a wet-blanket arent i?
