the singapore meteorological services division continue to forecast mostly cloudy days with scattered thunderstorms within the next five days, in all the four zones of the country. hmmm.. that doesnt bode very well for outdoorsy folks evrywhere & seriously, a rainy week is such a kill-joy. Moreover, with Hari Raya Aidiladha juz around the corner, the anticipation of rainy weather is a rather dampening thought; somehow, festive seasons seem less festive when it's WET everywhere... & it's gonna be a long weekend too~ what a waste! *haiz* don't forget to lug your umbrellas to wherever you're goin, pple!!
another thing about rainy weathers; they provide such a conducive environment for staying indoors and juz be a sloth.. (who am i trying to kid??? - i'm such a sloth regardless of the weather! LOL ) Therefore, the hours spent on my bed today juz whizzed past... Well, i wasnt really THAt a lazy bum; spent some time tweaking my old tag-board template to come up wif sumthing respectable enuff to replace my ailing shoutbox... and here i thought it was only people who are fallin' sick nowadays! harhar.. Also cleaned up the mess of unnecessary downloads which were clutterring up my windows desktop. I'm totally looking forward to getting a new hard disk for more space to store my ever-accumulating collection of mp3s & other media. If it weren't for my periodic "cleaning up" days, i guess my 20gig (yes, its only 20 gig...) of hard disk space wud be totally used up by now. :( However, i guess i have to put THAT off until i've got at least some kind of purchasing power... *haiz*

i think this year's contenders are so unknown to me.. the only nominated movies i watched were the Return of The King & Pirates of the Caribbean although a few others have had their run at local cinemas (eg. Master & Commander, Whale Rider, Seabiscuit). i feel really pathetic.. On the other hand, i'm ecstatic that Johnny Depp is nominated! i juz Lurrved his performance in Pirates & though i don't think his role is weighty enuff to deserve an oscar win, the fact that he got nominated is good enough evidence of his under-rated talent. The perpetually stunning Charlize Theron is also nominated & i have a gut feeling that she'll walk away wif the oscar... ;)
i've juz realized that although singapore is one of asia's leading economies and apparently one of the most westernised, the media here is sorely limited be it in quality & variety. take for instance the recent loosening of censorship rules; despite all the brou-haha, we still have yet to taste critically-acclaimed sitcoms like sex in the city & will & grace. AND newspaper prices have gone up by 20cents! (okie, this isnt sumthing really new but i gotta vent my frustration here; so bear wif me please!) that means i gotta fork out 80cents for my straits times and 60cents for berita harian; that works up to more than thirty percent increase in prices and here i thought GST had increased only by one percent!! wat gives?? CASE is hot on the heels of SPH for a justification for the price increase but i gravely think its all for nothing... Many pple are of the opinion that paying 20cents more is justified considering the fact that the ST is such a good quality paper; however, what choice do we have anyway since its the ONly english paper our little country has to depend on?? (tabloids dont count) Furthermore, sixty cents for Berita Harian is TOO MUCH. The latter doesnt even have enuff pages to last more than a day as toilet paper in a public loo, for goodness' sake!
oh well, i guess i'm juz your typical, average whining & griping singaporean who complains too much and appreciates too little ;p
