MAtt Goes Home

Bottom three this week: Matthew Rogers, Camille Velasco & Diana Degarmo.

In a surprising turn of events, matt was actually voted off american idol tonight. I'm not exactly jubilant about it though; Matt is the only male contestant with a voice "pop" enough to carry the guys' chorus during the group medleys so with him gone, that leaves us with three guys whose vocals are as different from one another as night and day. Well, somebody HAD to go and it was down to either Matt or Camille (Diana was lucky enuff to be sent back to the couches); when all is said and done, I'd rather that Camille stayed on. However, I have to laud Matthew for being such a sport cuz' he had the guts to parody his performance (by dedicating it to Simon, etc) instead of turning it into some drab & dreary affair. *haiz* Despite my apparent dislike for his ingratiating behavior, I just cant help feeling that Matt is capable of so much better if given the right material. Oh Well...

KImberley Locke made a special appearance to promote the first single off her debut album (to be released on May 4th), 8th World Wonder. Granted the song may sound like nothing Kimberley herself might have sung during the american idol competition last season, but its still a nice poppy ditty with a refrain melodic enough to blend inconspicuously with mainstream radio fare. My only hope is that she has not succumbed to the need to sing "commercialized" tunes in order to sell her album... 8th World Wonder is a good start but I'd rather she do something abit more mature. Infectious, feel-good pop just doesnt suit her somehow.

Talking about Idols wif albums, Joshua Gracin also has a single out and it's quite a respectable song actually. Entitled I want To Live, it's already making a little dent on country-music airwaves in america. With a debut album releasing pretty soon, it looks like Joshy has finally turned in his uniform to answer the call of a more glamorous vocation. ;p

Well, that's one less marine to serve in Iraq...
