met the old aunty who lives upstairs at the life lobby just now when i was returning home after my jurongpoint trip; she actually asked me if i lived in this block after i gave her a smile in greeting.. seriously!!! Either she's half-senile already or i have the uncanny ability to blend with the walls because i think i've practically passed by her a gazillion times at the same lift lobby eversince i was a little boy... Or perhaps, i just look a little different nowadays?!? i'm a regular chameleon, dontcha know??? LOL

Anyway, I was glancing through the ecircles update which is sent regularly to my email addy and to my utter shock & disgust, i discovered that someone had registered using my old bloggy nick, inretrospect (the email usually informs members about newbies who just registered & stuff like that). Fortunately, i did have a vague idea of the identity of that vile usurper of my nickname and after a little detective work, it was *****. Well, i dont wanna reveal any names but let's just say he was someone whom i trusted as a friend a long time ago. I'm quite pissed but then after some thought, i really cant blame him for being less than original. wat the hell~ i'm still pissed!

i forgot to mention yesterday that Channel U's darling, Evelyn Tan, just tied the knot with her boyfriend of six years, Darren Lim on sunday. Since it was telecasted over on Channel U, it was evidently quite a biggy event but i didnt watch it myself mainly because i've never been a big fan of the local chinese media industry. I never thought much of Evelyn; i've always felt that her sweetie-pie girl-next-door looks & demeanour had limited her to the niche of typical sweetie-pie girl-next-door roles and as a singer, she's pretty lousy too. However, i must laud her brilliant career move to become a Channel U news anchor; though she's far from qualified, (a mathematics graduate as a chinese news presenter? how relevant is that???) i'm positive that she has given most of the prepubescent teens in her fanbase, the motivation to watch the news more often. Isnt that perfectly in line with the government's new policy to encourage young Chinese singaporeans to be more appreciative of their mother tongue??? the latter disclosure may not really be of jaw-dropping proportions; so how about this piece of trivia then...

Estimated bill of Evelyn Tan/Darren Lim's wedding:
Wedding reception - S$56 000
Jewels (on loan) - S$250 000
Gowns - S$43 500
Drinks - S$26 000
Cakes - S$6 500
Hair-styling services - S$5 000 (by a four-man team from an established local salon)

(*all figures were estimates given by The New Paper on Sunday)

You do the math; the total bill for the wedding could probably be enough to feed a small drought/famine-plagued country in Africa for a month or two. BUt then again, i'm sure that most of the stuff are sponsored anyway... the lucky devils. And here i thought Andrea De Cruz & Pierre Png's marriage last year was extravagant!

Oh well. There goes another pair of young celebrities joined together in conjugal bliss... another perfect publicity stunt for the sponsors.

Love has grown so commercialized :(
