of fishes & singers

well, well, well. I havent done a proper update in ages, i think. Nuthin much has been happening in my life but internally, there's a whole gamut of emotions running rampant in my heart and mind. What these are however, are of no consequence right now...

The goldfish in the fish tank in my living room is dying off one by one.. At this point, I think it's abit too late to salvage anything from the situation although I have already harboured a vague suspicion as to the cause of their unfortunate demise (it must be something to do with the water... ). My detachment concerning this issue however, is not without reason; i've kept plenty of goldfishes in the past but they just keep dying on me. Since then, i've washed my hands off rearing animals... period! But then, i guess my sis has alotta stuff on her mind right now and she doesnt have the time for her fishies... *haiz* Perhaps, i'll try to do sumthing about those poor little creatures tomorrow morning (even little fishies must have feelings..).

I think I forgot to mention that Mya, our family pet rabbit, has been given away a few weeks ago. That's probably the wisest decision we've ever made concerning animals since we're not too good at maintaining housepets whatsoever (the fishy story is a fine example of our incompetency in this area). I kinda miss that little furball but i think she'd be far better off in a family which can offer her the care & attention it needs. I wud say that my mom plays the most significant role in my family's not-too great propensity toward pets in general; as a child, I remember how she used to discourage me or my bro from petting cats (strays and otherwise) and would berate us, most vehemently, whenever we committed such an atrocity.

After watching Anugerah's second season debut on suria earlier on, i'm led to believe that the gift of song is a rare commodity amongst aspiring malay singers in singapore... ;p However, I like the easy chemistry between hosts Suhaila Salam and Adi Rahman. Suhaila appears to be more confident and relaxed onscreen than she did last year and her zaniness was spot-on. It's a good thing that Suhaimi isnt co-hosting this time around; he's much too over-exposed by the media nowadays and his slapstick comedy is wearing thin. Adi Rahman is a good substitute with his eloquent delivery and wry humor but isnt he a tad too old to be sporting a visor?? Maybe Suzairhe Sumari's youthful appeal would have been a better choice but then... let's just see how it goes. ;)

it's funny how many people out there have dreams of making it "big" in the music industry; i can imagine how superstar-dom has its attactions but seriously, when we get down to the nitty-gritty facts, alot of prerequisites have to be met before one becomes eligible for such a life of fame and glamour. The real world is a tough, supercilious bitch; to be accepted by it, one would need an overdose of talent, charisma and luck (and good looks too, of course). If that isnt enough, being a malay star in singapore isnt such a plus-point at all... In the first place, we hardly have any full-time malay celebrities (with the exception of Aaron Aziz perhaps?).

Life as a minority race is certainly difficult. Evry person is entitled to have their dreams and aspirations.. their "american" dream so-to-speak; but not evryone has the resources or ability to fulfill that dream for themselves. Some might endeavour and succeed (to a certain extent) whereas many others simply fall between the cracks in their pursuit of the ideal.. their dreams biting the dust.

Sometimes i think i'd rather be a goldfish in a fish-tank. Perhaps then, life would be so much simpler...
