1. Constantine Maroulis - Nights on Broadway (The BeeGees)
2. Carrie Underwood - MacArthur Park (Donna Summer)
3. Scott Savol - Everlasting Love (Carl Carlton)
4. Anthony Fedorov - Don't Take Away the Music (Tavares)
5. Vonzell Solomon - I'm Every Woman (Chaka Kahn)
6. Anwar Robinson - September (Earth, Wind, and Fire)
7. Bo Bice - Vehicle (Ides of March)

I admit the thought of Constantine, Bo, Anwar or Carrie doing disco filled me with some apprehension but upon watching their performances, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it would be...

Bookending the show this week were our two resident rockers, Bo and Constantine. The latter's tresses looked washed (for once) with very striking highlights. Other than that, there was nothing noteworthy about his performance besides the usual theatrics, annoying mugging and camera-fucking. OOps. I just realised that he looks like a cross between Harvey Fierstein and Gollum from LOTR (*muahaha!). Randy Jackson might have proclaimed Bo's "return" but seriously, I thought he was just being his usual i'm-a-genuine-rocker-so-i'll-heck-care self. Moreover, his song choice sounded more rock than disco -- I couldn't help feeling abit shortchanged by his performance!

Anthony decided to lose his dorky specs for tonight and he certainly looked very comfortable onstage as compared to his stiff/mechanical performances from AI's earlier weeks. The vocals still sounded abit hollow to me though, and even slightly pitchy in some parts although none of the judges seemed to notice it. Frankly speaking, I thought Simon's "insipid" comment was abit extreme because Anthony's dance moves were far more bearable than Anwar's peculiar onstage hopping. Not only that, he sounded a little rough and grating tonight, especially during the later half of his song. And what's up with that grotesque pose at the end??? I almost died of a heart-attack!

Chubby-thug Scott seemed to be in a tad cheerier mood tonight than last week; he probably assumed he had scored a slam-dunk with his rendition of "Everlasting Love". In my opinion, his vocals sounded too thin and reedy for the song, and he seemed to be crooning rather than belting it out. What a snore! ZZzzzzz

Unquestionably, the two remaining girls fared so much better than their male counterparts. While Simon might have some qualms about Carrie's retro-Barbie-esque look, few people I think, would deny that her vocals were awesome -- those couple of long notes near the end more than made up for her fashion-debacle. It was Vonzell, however, who delivered the night's showstopper. Once again, Vonzell's chameleon-like ability to morph into whatever diva is appropriate for the night (this time being Disco-Diva!) has done her good; her take of "I'm Every Woman" was stunningly executed, albeit at times, it seemed like her high notes teetered on the brink of flatness... Fortunately, they weren't. With that said however, I much prefer Jaclyn Viktor's (from MI) version. LOl

Bottom three predictions: Scott, Anwar and Anthony.

PS: Carrie's adorable, ditzy-farmgirl demeanour never fails to make me smile. But she really needs to fire her fashion/image consultant and get a new one! Big hair and flowery-curtain-material dresses are NOT fetch!
