an evening as a couch potato
Thursday, September 08, 2005

On evenings when I'm not out frolicking about outside with a friend or two, I'd mostly stay glued to the television screen at home. And thus, seeing how I haven't got cable (maybe I should get it?) and my house can receive a measly six or seven channels, I've no choice but to settle for a repeat screening of The Bodyguard just now.

Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner had as much chemistry as a pair of goldfish in an aquarium. That's a pretty weird analogy, isn't it? ~ LOL. But of course, half of the time, I was too distracted by Whitney's kitschy wardrobe to notice much of what was happening in the film. The big hair, bushy eyebrows and thick-shoulder-pads -- EeeeeWWWW~!!

Still, I couldn't help but be mesmerized when she opened her mouth to sing. I Have Nothing, Run To You and I Will Always Love You are such perennial favorites of mine albeit they've been sung to death on Idol shows. However, changing times have ensured the end of the era of big-power ballads; the success of singers nowadays depend more on the way they are packaged rather than on whether they can really sing or not. *Sigh* I used to think that the day when I start preferring class 95 fm over the trendier 98.7fm, would be the day I have to admit I'm not so young anymore.

I think that day has come =p
