the phonecall

my handphone rang sometime in the late afternoon today. It was an unfamiliar number...

ME: (picking up the call) Hello... hello???

Caller: Hello...

ME: er.. Yes?? (uncertainly)

Caller: Who are you?

ME: HUH?????? (completely perplexed)

Caller: Who are you??

ME: er.. Can I help you? Who are you looking for? (becoming increasingly frustrated)

Caller: I'm looking for.. (slight pause) Mr Mohamad Ahmad.. (Slight pause) Rudi.. (slight pause).. Wan...

ME: What is this about? (hostility lacing every single word)

Caller: (some gibberish) ... financial planner... (some more gibberish)

ME: NOT INTERESTED! (call terminated)

Moral of story -- a caller who does not introduce himself/herself first upon start of conversation and mangles the pronunciation of my name (why can't these people just say those vowel sounds the way they're spelt???) does not deserve to be treated in a civil manner. Or perhaps I was just having one of my regular PMS days... LOL
