is this the come-back entry???
Tuesday, December 06, 2005

As I may have mentioned in my previous entry, my sudden disappearance from blog-world wasn't wholly intentional. I think plain laziness was one of the prime factors which had contributed to my absence. PLUS my inadvertent penchance to procrastinate. (A more euphemistic explanation would be that I simply hadn't got the free time to blog... which is partly true, at least.. )

Oh well -- it's really a weird feeling to open up my blog archives and see just one pathetic entry for the month of November 2005. Seems as if an entire month has been swallowed up by Godzilla or something. Nevertheless, I suppose a bout of apologies are in order to my dear readers who have tirelessly dropped by my blog to check for updates, only to find that I had NOT updated. Must have been frustrating for you guys, isn't it?? I promise I'll do it again. I mean NEVER do it again. Yeah.. Right.

After spending a good fraction of the last couple of hours tweaking my blog to suit my current mood, I'm pretty much worn to a frazzle right now. However, before I bid goodnight and publish this post, I'm going to wax lyrical about my current song-of-the-moment, Ikan Di Laut Asam Di Darat by Malaysia's most under-rated singer, Adibah Noor. It's actually a remake of an old song, but given a light, jazzy twist which I think, has made it completely irresistible. If I were to think of this song as a piece of edible thingy, it would definitely be a plate of mouth-watering calamari... And the lyrics of this song is just too goddamn cute!
Kalau menyanyi perlahan lahan
Di bawah angin terdengar jauh
Kalau hati tidak tertahan
Di dalam air badan berpeluh

Bunga melati di dalam taman
Daun yang hijau banyak yang gugur
Kalau turut makrifat iman
Tidakan air mungkin bercantum

Kalau takut di lamun ombak
Jangan berumah di tepi pantai
Ikan di laut asam di darat
Dalam periuk bikin muafakat.
It's rather mindboggling to think that a singer as polished as 35-year old Adibah, has been in showbiz for more than a decade and yet, had only JUST released her debut album. Seriously, this lady has such a delicious voice, it would be a shame if she didn't release more records in the future. (FYI, Adibah was last seen stealing scenes as a house-servant in the film Sepet)

Seeing how Adibah isn't exactly "star" material (i.e Waif-thin and weighing less than 50kilos), whether her album would help to generate a new, devoted fan-following is abit dubious but one thing's for sure; if she were in artiste in Sg, her generous girth might attract potential slimming sponsors in no time at all. I mean, just look at Olinda Cho and Irene Ang -- It seems that plus-sized beauty, in Singapore, is not marketable at all. How depressing!!!

PS: I'm depressed not because I have weight issues to contend with, but rather at the lamentable prevalent emphasis on external beauty here in this country... ;p
