jukebox playin': Jacyln Viktor - Menghitung Hari

A quick check with en.wikipedia.org, revealed that -
According to the Catholic Encyclopedia (1908), at least three different Saints Valentine, all of them martyrs and all quite obscure, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under the date of February 14... The connection between St. Valentine and romantic love is not mentioned in any early histories and is regarded by secular historians as purely a matter of legend (see below). The feast of St. Valentine was first declared to be on February 14 by Pope Gelasius I in 496. There is a widespread legend that he created the day to counter the practice held on Lupercalia of young men and women pairing off as lovers by drawing their names out of an urn, but this practice is not attested in any sources from that era...
I had nearly forgotten that today is Valentine's Day.. but the sight of some male youths carrying little bouquets of flowers for their sweethearts, as I took the train back home earlier this evening, were gentle reminders of the day's special significance. But looking at young couples (who seem to be the only ones eager to celebrate the occasion) holding hands or in loving embrace, basking in the glow of this "special" day, didn't annoy me as much as it should (valentine's day is too commercial & over-rated lah~!). I think I looked at them with a detached nonchalance -- much like the way you look at an ordinary brown pebble or leaf that's lying on the ground before you casually step over it.

Perhaps I was simply too knackered out to feel much... more tired than usual. Maybe it's a sign that I'm coming down with something. Flu? Fever? Continuous days of insufficient sleep and irregular meals have probably begun to have a negative impact on my weak and mortal (not to mention, dismally skinny) frame. Should start eating oranges.. for vitamin C and stuff; but I've never been very fond of the fruit except when it is in liquid form. Perhaps I would have liked them better if they weren't so... orange~! LOL. Despite my less than jovial mood however, it isn't beneath me to wish others a happy valentine's, no matter how corny it sounds.

With that said, here's wishing all my friends a Happy Valentine's Day~! =p
