Sometimes I wish I had more interest in the current affairs of this country. Or, I would wish that I could rant freely (with passion, perhaps?) about our (non-existent?) politics, the PAP, the cash hand-outs, the price of COE, the price of eggs, the toll increase to enter Malaysia, etc etc.
Or write about my wonderful career (Not!), my fantastic love-life (!!!), recent trends/updates on local pop culture, the latest new hang-outs/movies/music or the most nifty gadget (PDA, Mobile, electronic accessory etc) to hit the market this season.
But whenever I think about such stuff (i.e. all the above examples), my mind comes to a veritable cul-de-sac. Heck, the last film I watched in the cinemas was The New World (helmed by Terrence Malick, starring Colin Farrell) which isn't even showing anymore so what's the sense in writing about that??? (But while we're on the subject, it was indeed a good film -- deserves a 4/5 star rating!!)
More often than not, I end up blogging about what I've seen on television, what I read in the papers (horoscope!! hahaha), what I had for dinner, what my adorable niece mentioned earlier in the evening... blah blah blah. And then I'd think; Isn't it all just the same old thing I'm writing about, over and over again? Even the words I'm using.. they are beginning to repeat themselves.
Repetition. Alliteration. Assonance. Consonance. Etc, etc... Even as I am typing these words, I seem to distrust their meaning, and doubting the whole process of writing itself. Of blogging... Words that flow like the beads on a long string, spiralling down one by one as you insert them at the open end (of the string). Going on and on, with each bead no different from the other. A pointless process actually.
Etcetera -- I like the sound of this word though. Reminds me of that Hollywood film musical from the 1950s, The King & I, which consequently, brings forth to mind the scene where Deborah Kerr (as Anna) tries to teach Yul Brynner (King Mongkut) the polka, singing "Shall we dance! On a bright cloud of music, shall we fly! ..." and then you realise that these two jokers were actually falling in love with each other but were too prudish (perhaps?) to declare it openly.
By the way, this is a totally pointless entry... but haven't I mentioned that already? LOL
