I just took up another tuition assignment -- teaching E.Maths and Chemistry (sub) to a sec. 4 (normal academic stream) kid -- and today was my first lesson. Since I got back from the chalet pretty late, I had little choice but to take a cab down to his place in Bukit Panjang. It was a good thing that I did because I needed all the help I could get to locate the block... (Is it just me or is Bukit Panjang just a very perplexing place to get around??) Fortunately, the lady cab driver -- whom I accidentally addressed as "Uncle" initially!! -- had more good sense than I did and thus, I wasn't that late for the lesson. (Cab-ride set me back by nine bucks though; made mental note to die-die take LRT next time..)
I've always considered myself to be pretty good at Math, but today's lesson shattered all my complacent illusions -- I got stumped by two questions. One about angles within a circle and the other, concerning mode/median/mean. So malu -- had to ask my student to ask his school teacher instead. Talk about an impressive first impression, huh? =p
For next week's lesson, I think I'll be going through alkanes and alkenes. You know what that means... time to start digging out my chemistry textbook!!! MUahahaha!
