Had a secret wish to attend the May Day concert at the Padang tonight but woefully must give it a miss because I had tuition. I thought long weekends are synonymous to many low-stress hours lounging in front of the TV, but it isn't so. Apparently, most secondary schools are in the midst of their mid-year examinations right now and thus, my tuition kids are clamouring to get some very last minute revisions done before their respective papers. This is in spite of my insistence that they tell me their examination dates way in advance so that I can go through with them the appropriate chapters/topics. But NOOOOO -- they just had to tell me less than a week prior to their papers...
I'm quite stressed out, I tell you.
While on the subject of that aforementioned event at the Padang, I managed to catch the TV ad just now; a slew of singers from the mandarin pop scene, and a handful of TCS 8 and Channel U celebrities will be performing/making an appearance. Somewhere in the mix, I caught a glimpse of Mohammed Shabir (Vasantham Star winner), Hyrul Anuar (Anugerah winner), Hetty Sarlene and Jacintha Abisheganaden. Suddenly, am more conscious than ever that I'm just part of a minority race in Singapore.
On a much happier note, am very relieved to learn that will not have to vote i.e. will not have to decide between choosing PAP and some sub-standard/ disadvantageous/ unfairly-maligned political party. Hurrah! Still remembered a certain occasion in the past when I saw Dr. Chee Soon Juan at Jurong Secondary School (my polling centre back then), all smiley and looking like everybody's best friend/neighbour. My aesthetic senses were so assaulted by his saucer-wide retro spectacles, that I was compelled to vote for the other party. Wasn't that utterly lame? HAHha.
Progress payment is out (just in time for the elections!) and it seems like everybody's talking about it. Or at least, just those above 21. =p Is it just me or are the crowds at handphone shops getting more and more.. er... crowded??? Tsk tsk. Yours truly, however, was bimbotic enough to actually forget all about registering for the PP and thus, will need to wait a few more days before I get my grubby little hands on the dough. In the meantime, am resisting the urge to upgrade my mobile... I must admit, the urge is quite strong...
