It's been ages since I last blogged. Blame it on the gazillion pop-ups which plagued my browser everytime I surfed a couple of weeks ago -- it really decapitated my mood for blogging. But before my brief weekend KL getaway last week, I managed to re-format my pc, re-install every single thing that I used to have (a very long & tedious process), and even trudged down to Sim Lim Square and purchased a legitimate anti-virus/anti-spyware software, which by the way, works wonderfully well and is a hundred-percent idiot-proof for technophobes like myself.
But I really must re-enact an incident that occured at Sim Lim which was, unfortunately, rather unpleasant.
Upon entering computer shop on fourth/fifth floor, nearest the escalator...
me: Hmmm.. what's the difference between all these anti-virus programmes? (pointing to the various boxes displayed beneath the glass counter; Norton, Panda, McCaffee, Penicillin, et al...)
shop-uncle: (unsmiling) The name.
me: (trying to sound unfazed by previous brusque reply) But why are there different price variations?? Which one is the most popular brand??
shop-uncle: (nondescript three/four worded reply)
After that, I was too disgusted to hang around the shop anymore. Seriously, he didn't have to humour my apparently unintelligent questions (believe me, I AM clueless about computer stuff) with masked enthusiasm, but he could have at least treated me in a more civil manner. It wasn't like he was serving anyone else or doing anything even... This kind of service really sucks!
Glad to have that out of my system.
