Just My Luck

What is it about? -- An extremely lucky girl meets extremely unlucky guy at a masquerade party. They kiss and inadvertently swopped fortunes. Now extremely unlucky, girl seeks out guy to have her extreme good luck back. Eventually, they fall in love and live happily ever after, with the moral lesson learned that it's not important to be extremely lucky all the time. (duh!)

Who's in it? -- Lindsay Lohan is our hapless heroine who falls for the bumbling Chris Pine. Lohan's role is rather pedestrian (haven't we seen her act like this in all the rest of her "teen" film comedies??) but she does have an endearing quality about her which makes her engaging (like Julia Roberts perhaps?) and not-so-annoying to watch (unlike the oft-whiney Hillary Duff). Chris Pine looks like a younger James Marsden and he admirably held his own against Lohan. Real-life UK punk-rock band, McFly, makes an appearance as a struggling band hoping to make it big in the US.

Why should/shouldn't you watch it? -- Although the plot is very predictable, Lohan and Pine have sufficient on-screen chemistry and acting chops to hold the film decently together and sustain its breeziness until the final act. The laughs may not come hard and fast all the time but there are a few gems here that are genuinely funny.

In a nutshell -- Just My Luck is the sort of date-movie that is perfect for teens (or anyone else mentally stuck at that age); Jaded adults looking for satirical undertones (like a previous Lohan vehicle, Mean Girls) or something more intelligent or original should look elsewhere. For heavens' sake, the entire premise of this film is based upon kissing! -- one shouldn't expect too much! By the way, have I mentioned that I absolutely adore Lohan and her gazillion freckles??? LOL

my ratings ---- 3.3/5 stars!!!
