A couple of days ago, I met a very old friend of mine for dinner. It had been ages since we last caught up with each other and I felt a tad guilty for not doing so... We have been pretty close friends eversince our army days and even after that, continued to hang out together frequently, on weekdays after my lectures/tutorials at the uni were over and on weekends after I knock off from my part-time job. After graduation, I sort of lost touch with him and I keep telling myself it was because we were both busy with our "careers" and personal lives, and circumstances were much exacerbated by the fact that we stay on opposite sides of the island (me in Jurong whilst he in Tampiness).
But I guess that's how things are as we grow older and "adult" matters and concerns begin to occupy our daily lives -- Friends start to drift apart and we find (or fabricate) excuses for not making enough efforts to prevent it from happening.

Well anyway, since our birthdays this month are only a week apart, we decided it would be a splendid idea, and a most christmas
sy thing to do, to exchange gifts (despite our several years of friendship, we seldom bought presents for each other -- I guess guys tend to let things like that slip.. :p ). So I bought him a snazzy new name-card holder (which he picked himself!) and he got for me a new planner (which I chose, of course) from Prints at Raffles City. Its brown and has a leather-ish cover... I know it might look a little dowdy but hey, I think I'm all about chic and cool understatement! (as if..)

Honestly, I'm not sure if I would really
use that thing but I think I shall try my best... I've resolved that 2007 will be a very
organized year for me. Hehe. Hmmm.. In fact, I was originally thinking of getting for myself an Ipaq or Dopod early next year but if I do, it would make my lovely new planner rather
redundant, wouldn't it?? But just look at those pristine white pages that are just
waiting to be filled up with numerous important notes, appointments, meetings and notices! I feel like a primary one kid who had been given a wonderful new notebook (one of those blue-covered little things that used to cost only 20 or 30cents) to scribble in!
It's mind-boggling to think how the year is coming to an end without you even noticing it and a whole new year is just around the corner. The thought is making me feel so OLD!!
Sigh..
