the day my chocolate died on me

Something quite funny happened last sunday which I think I just can't keep to myself much longer..

I was on my way to CityHall for a last minute shopping appointment with a friend (having completed my assignment earlier than expected) and as usual, I was running a little late.

I told my friend to walk around Raffles City first, i.e. whilst waiting for me, and would give him a buzz once I'd reached. When I arrived at my destination however, my handphone's reception went totally blank -- my lousy phone has an annoying tendency to go bonkers at subterranean places. And whenever that happens, I have this habit of switching my hp 'off' and then 'on' again, to sort of "reboot" it to its normal functioning state (or something like that; I know my rationale is abit crappy though~).

Consequently, I proceeded to do just that but with one exception -- my hp couldN'T switch back on! IT had practically, and literally, DIED on me!!

I almost had an anxiety attack because;-
i) I'm not very good at memorising phone numbers and out of the measly handful that I could recall, my friend's was not one of them!
ii) Raffles City is a huge place and the throng of Sunday shoppers there did not help.. Looking for someone randomly without any aid or guide could be like looking for a needle in a haystack!

I spent a protracted five minutes sitting down on one of the benches within Raffles City (at that big open square on level one) trying to calm my nerves and thinking about what to do next.. I decided that the best course of action was to look for a public phone and start punching out some familiar numbers. That sure seemed like a good idea at the time; I was too agitated to think of better alternatives.

I headed for the public phones at the mrt station, (the ones near station control) rather than those within the mall itself, and it turned out to be a lucky impulse -- As I was nearing those aforementioned phones, lo and behold, I saw my old dear, dear friend standing right next to them! What a sight for sore eyes he was!!!

My hp was out of commission for the last few days and I had to rely on my sister's antiquated Samsung clamshell hp with faulty keypad, no less, as a means of communication.. not that I had alot of callers or peepz text-messaging me anyway.

Fortunately, I managed to squeeze some time this last Tuesday to send my poor LG chocolate for servicing at the LG center near Redhill, and as of this afternoon, it's officially fixed and functioning again! Thank God!

I really hope I won't get myself into another foolish misadventure anytime soon; my nerves are ragged enough this week as it is...
