I was out earlier today at Queensway. Had planned to change only the lens of my spectacles but ended up getting a new pair as well because I've always wanted to get a pair of swanky plastic frames as some sort of "weekend" glasses kinda thing. So of course, when it comes down to assisting customers to spend their money, shop assistants can be VERY helpful and encouraging... Therefore, before I knew it, I parted with slightly more than 200 bucks at one silly optical shop alone -- for a new pair of frames and new lenses for my old one. Super thin high index or something like that for the latter... it's no wonder then my pockets are suddenly feeling kinda light. *Sigh*
Hope it wasn't a spur of the moment thing. However, I think I'll feel much better after I go down to fetch them this Friday. Can hardly wait~!
I bought a running wheel for my new pair of hamsters a couple of days ago but due to my inexpert clumsiness, I accidentally broke the knob-thingy which attaches it to the hamster cage. Therefore, I dropped by the huge pet store at Vivocity to hunt for a replacement but the cheapest one I saw cost around 9 bucks!!! That's daylight robbery for you... In the end, simply decided to use superglue to fix the broken part and hope it'll work. My little darlings really do need a good workout, you know -- at the very least, the running wheel will spare them the agony of running around the cage in hopeless circles.
Talking about circles, I was at the zoo a while back and saw Inuka, the polar bear, doing exactly that, i.e. swimming around in hopeless circles in his small watery enclosure. Can't blame the poor chap; I'd probably become a bit loony too if someone were to lock me up in a tiny place with no TV or computer. LOL. Perhaps someone should get Inuka a really humongous running wheel. Or a treadmill. Running pointlessly in one spot ought to be less stressful than running around in dizzying circles. Aha.
All MY running around these last few months in the name of work and career ought to be taking me somewhere though. Somewhere that's green, hopefully. I like the feeling of being occupied in productive work, and using the knowledge I've accumulated through years of slogging in schools (primary to university) whilst in the process. Of course, there are many a time when I still question the very essence of what I'm doing but I'm mostly too exhausted to spend sleepless nights pondering over my destiny and going over the what-ifs of my life like I used to just a year plus ago...
Am I happy then? Perhaps. Though of course, happiness is a relative term. I'm definitely grateful I'm not a hamster in a cage though, with just a running wheel as a distraction...
