I don't think my recent weekend getaway was as enjoyable as I had expected. Firstly, like all getaways are wont to be, it was much too brief. I felt like I was rushing from place to place to absorb and relish the many wonders Kuala Lumpur has to offer. (By "wonders", I'm referring to the humongous malls and sprawling shopping districts there of course. =p )
It didn't help that it rained heavily and sporadically on Saturday, thereby extinguishing the fun out of our walk-abouts. Nevertheless, I DID manage to eat like a pig during the whole trip, though incidentally, my friends and I totally forgot to try the local roadside/hawker/street foodies. Guess we were too busy enjoying our MarryBrown, A&W, Dunkin' Donuts, Breadtalk, etc, etc....
But unlike my dear friends however, I wasn't enticed enough by the faux stuff on Petaling or any of the other stuff I encountered at the KL malls to make personal purchases. Probably, my mind kept thinking about the Great Sale we're having here in Sg and how much I've already spent within the short couple of weeks since the advent of GSS! (My UOB bill finally arrived Monday; Realized now the folly of my relentless bouts of shopping. But instead of worrying about clearing bills, I'm anticipating another round at the malls soon. I'm NUTS!!!)
I almost forgot to mention; A homemade bomb exploded at the Puduraya bus terminal last Thursday evening, which injured a little girl. (Read about it here.) When my friends heard it on the local news Friday evening (which was our first night in KL), they almost freaked out -- our hotel was just across the road from Puduraya! But thankfully, our short holiday was not marred by any rampaging terrorists or exploding homemade bombs. In fact, by Saturday morn, all paranoia from the night before were totally forgotten. We're such fickle Singaporeans!!! LOL.
