Imagine: If a person smokes a cigarette after each meal, that would sum up to three sticks of cigarettes per day, one after each major meal i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner. My guess is, that's the bare minimum number of cigarettes for a smoker smokes in a day.

But I'm sure there are other "smoke" breaks during a day, for instance, between breakfast and lunch, and between lunch and dinner. And maybe one stick before supper and one more stick after or before bedtime. That makes it another 4 sticks of ciggies (as some smokers affectionately call their cigarettes) and brings us to a grand total of 7 sticks per day for this imaginary average smoker.

Is he considered a heavy smoker? Maybe not, as the time interval between each stick isn't exactly very brief.

7 sticks per day works out to 2555 in a year. And THAT works out to approximately 128 packs of cigarettes.

If this imaginary smoker were to buy Pall Mall red pack ciggies, which costs $9.50 (estimated value) per pack of twenty sticks, then he would need to spend $1216 in a year.

That's around a hundred bucks a month.

On cancer-inducing cigarettes.

Is it worth it?
